The Basil-Tov Cocktail

A refreshing herbaceous cocktail that celebrates fresh flavor with a vibrant hint of basil oil. Cheers to summer, celebrations, and garden-inspired sips!
Ingredients
For the Cocktail:
- 2 oz Bulrush Gin
- ¾ oz fresh lemon juice
- ¾ oz simple syrup (equal parts water to sugar)
- 4 drops basil oil (see below)
For the Basil Oil:
- 500 ml vegetable oil
- 100 g fresh basil leaves
- 1 g salt
Instructions
- Make the Basil Oil
- Blanch the basil: Place fresh basil leaves in boiling water for 10 seconds, then immediately transfer to an ice bath to shock and preserve color.
- Blend: In a high-speed blender, combine basil leaves, vegetable oil, and salt until fully emulsified and bright green.
- Strain: Pour through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove solids. Store in a squeeze bottle in the refrigerator. (Shake gently before use.)
- Mix the Cocktail
- Add gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
- Shake until chilled and well combined.
- Double strain into a chilled martini or coupe glass.
- Top with four drops of basil oil for a burst of flavor and visual flair.
Garnish & Serve
Optional: Float a single basil leaf or micro basil sprig on top for a stunning finish.
